» How do I compute total feed consumption up to harvest?
No. of stock x survival rate (%) x target ABW x previous FCR
» How should I compute for feed for the day?
Using TATEH Feeding guide, DAILY FEED RATION = No. of stocks x % survival x ABW x feeding rate according to age/size. See TATEH Feeding Guide
» What is FCR or Feed Conversion Ratio?
Feed Conversion Ratio is a value obtained by dividing the total feed consumption with the total biomass with the same unit (usually in kilos). The value represents the amount of feed consumed to produce a kilo of fish. The lower the FCR value, the better. It means that the feed amount needed to produce a kilo of fish is lower.
» Why water exchange is important?
As fish continue eating feeds, it releases feces and other organic waste in water. The waste accumulates at the pond bottom and water quality is affected. It is therefore imperative to drain and fill the pond with water to dilute or minimize the harmful effects of degraded water quality. Water exchange is critical from two months of culture to harvest. » What general aquaculture management principle should be followed to have profit?
The use of high quality fry, high quality feeds, and good culture management guarantees profit.
» What differentiates extruded feed from pelletized feeds?
When raw materials are properly cooked at a certain temperature, it becomes more digestible to fish when fed. Nutrients from the feeds are becoming more available and easily assimilated by the cultured species. Likewise, nutrient leaching is minimized through extruded feeds. Extruded feeds are environment friendly. Extruded feed is available in either floating or slow-sinking variants.
